Sometimes the thing blocking your backyard from being great is literally right in front of you. These arborvitae had grown into a massive wall - towering, dense, and completely eating up usable yard space. They had probably looked fine years ago, but at this size they were doing more harm than good.
We cleared the whole row out. That kind of removal is no small job. Mature arborvitae like these have deep, established root systems and thick trunks at the base. It takes the right equipment and a solid plan to get them out cleanly without tearing up the surrounding yard.
What we were left with was exactly what the homeowner needed - open space with real potential. The covered patio already had good bones. Nice seating, string lights, solid layout. It just needed room to breathe. Once those shrubs came out, the whole back of the house opened up.
The plan going forward is even better. A sauna is getting added to the space, and now there's actually room for it to feel like a destination rather than an afterthought. That's the kind of outdoor setup that genuinely gets used.
Big shrub and tree removal is one of those jobs where the results speak for themselves. If you've got overgrown landscaping that's crowding out your yard, it's worth having someone take a look. The difference it makes is usually bigger than people expect.
